November 5th to 13th, 2015


Day 1

November 5th (Arrival in Yangon)

Arrive at Yangon International Airport (RGN), where you will be met by our guide and transferred to your hotel.
This afternoon, visit Botataung Pagoda and Chaukhtatgyi, a huge reclining Buddha image. Finally, visit Shwedagon Pagoda. Its golden stupa, which is over 2,500 years old, is the heart of Myanmar. Get to know your fellow travelers as we share a welcome dinner. (D)

Day 2

November 6th (Flight to Bagan and sightseeing)

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, before your transfer to the airport for your flight to Bagan. Visit a morning market, Shwezigon Pagoda (its golden stupa is the glory of Bagan), Gubyaukgyi Temple, which houses the best 11th century murals, Htilominlo Temple, noted for its pilaster carving, Nathtaukkyaung Monastery, an ancient wooden monastery, Ananda Temple, an architectural masterpiece resembling a Greek cross, and a lacquerware workshop.
After your morning visit of Bagan, relax at the hotel. In late afternoon, tour Manuha Temple, with huge Buddha images, Dhamayangyi Temple, the city’s largest temple, and Sulamani Temple, dating back to the 12th century. (B,D)

Day 3

November 7th (Excursion to Mt. Popa - 50 km/2 hours)

Have breakfast at your hotel, before the drive to Mt. Popa, an extinct volcano known as the “Home of the Spirits”. Observe rural life and learn about the production of palm sugar. Along the way, stop for photos and admire the countryside.
Climb the 777 steps to the top of Mt. Popa cliff temple and admire the panoramic view. Later, take a sunset cruise along the mighty Ayeyarwaddy River. (B)

Day 4

November 8th (Flight to Mandalay and excursion to Amarapura, Sagaing and Ava)

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, before your transfer to the airport for your flight to Mandalay. Take an excursion to Amarapura, an ancient capital of Myanmar, where you can discover what life is like for the over 1,000 monks at Mahagandaryon Monastery. Tour a silk weaving factory.
Then, head to Sagaing, where you can admire the Ayeyarwaddy River from serene Sagaing Hill. Here, you can find some 700 monasteries, Kaungmudaw Pagoda, with its magnificent dome, and a silverware factory. Then, continue to Ava, and visit Maenu Okkyaung Monastery, built by the chief queen in 1818, Nan Myint Tower, 27 m high, and Bargaya Monastery, well-known for its wood carvings and 267 huge teak pillars.
Return to Amarapura and take in the sunset from the U Bein Bridge. (B)

Day 5

November 9th (River Cruise to Mingun and visit of Mandalay)

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Take a one hour cruise to Mingun along the Ayeyarwaddy River. During the river cruise, admire the scenery and observe daily life for the people living along the Ayeyarwaddy. Later, visit Mingun Pagoda. Unfinished, this pagoda boasts the largest “intact” ringing bell in the world at 90 tons.
Then, head back to Mandalay, and visit traditional handicraft workshops, creating such items as marble carvings and gold leaf. Explore Kuthodaw Pagoda, which houses the world’s largest book and Shwenandaw (Golden Palace) Monastery.
Finally, enjoy the sunset from the top of Mandalay Hill.(B)

Day 6

November 10th (Flight to Heho, drive to Pindaya (45 km/90 minutes) and to Inle (97 km/2.5hours)

Have breakfast at your hotel, before transferring to the airport for your flight to Heho. Upon your arrival in Heho, embark on the drive to Pindaya and enjoy the hilly region’s marvelous landscapes with its vegetable plantations.
Explore the Pindaya Caves, in which you can observe 8,094 Buddha images, and visit an umbrella workshop in the village.
Then, proceed to Inle, and check-in at the hotel. (B)

Day 7

November 11th (Tour of Inle)

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, before taking a boat excursion on the lake. Visit Inn Dein Pagoda and the surrounding ruins. In the village of Inn Paw Khone, admire lotus, silk and cotton woven products. Visit Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda, the most important religious site on the lake, Nga Phe Chaung Monastery, and the lake’s unique floating gardens. (B)

Day 8

November 12th (Flight to Yangon)

Have breakfast at the hotel, before transferring to the airport for your flight to Yangon. Upon your arrival, transfer to your hotel for check-in and spend the day at your leisure.
Later in the afternoon, visit Bogyoke Market and wander through China Town, before sharing highlights of your trip during our farewell dinner. (B,D)

Day 9

November 13th (Departure)

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, before transferring to the airport. If continuing to southern Thailand for the trip extension kindly advise us of your flight information so we may advise other travelers in the group. If you are returning back to North America you may choose any flight departure you prefer as we have included a private transfer if required to ease your travel concerns.
